History of PUCC

The Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce actively promotes local business interests in a dynamic, inner-city environment.
Pyrmont Ultimo has changed dramatically since PUCC was founded and incorporated in 1997 by a handful of local businessmen. Despite its rich early history, it was by then a colourless, dormant area with a shrinking population.

Pyrmont waterfront at nightTotally transformed over the past few years, it has become Sydney’s recognized media and creative centre, where television presenters and movie producers mix with entrepreneurs, IT managers, architects, artists and accountants in lively lunchtime restaurants and bars.
Recent major residential and commercial development has attracted both workers and investment. The fast-growing resident population now approaches 20,000, with the same number of workers, and thousands of students commute in daily.

Well-known attractions like Star City, Darling Harbour with the Convention and Exhibitions Centre, the Maritime and Powerhouse Museums and Chinatown draw floods of visitors into the area all year round.

Not-for-profit PUCC is a completely independent organisation that cooperates readily with local government and other bodies to promote and safeguard the interests of the Pyrmont Ultimo business community and local residents.

Pyrmont bridgeWe welcome as members all large and small businesses and individual operators who aim to enhance their own business opportunities and who recognize the value of working collectively through the Chamber to create optimal quality-of-life for the local community as a whole.

Our monthly networking evenings and social events, usually hosted in rotation by PUCC members and featuring a topical guest speaker, offer an ideal platform for meeting, discussing and promoting business services and products.

Our Executive Committee consists of a team of hardworking volunteers who want to ensure that PUCC is a creative and dynamic business force which is well structured and creates plenty of events, programs, services and networking opportunities for our members. Our committee also ensures annual government funding is received and disbursed back into the business community. We work hand in hand with local organisations and other chambers and welcome new members.
